Grass Fed Organic Ghee: For a Healthy Life Style

Ghee and butter are indispensable ingredients in our cooking process. But the unfortunate fact is that the ghee and butter that we use in our daily cooking are not really healthy for the main reason that the cows nowadays are fed on manufactured cattle feeds. Most of the traditional cows are fed on large amounts of grains such as corn, soy and other supplements in order to enhance milk production and decrease cost. Moreover, they are kept in crowded feedlots and don’t get the opportunity to roam freely in the sun and eat high-fiber green grass. This makes them vulnerable to several diseases that call for the need to administer antibiotics in their daily feed to prevent diseases.

Thus, the grass-fed organic ghee is really a healthy food item which cannot be denied. The grass-fed butter is made using the milk of cow that is only grass fed. This organic butter and ghee, apart from offering the wonderful flavors, is highly beneficial to the body.  Ghee is gluten-free and offers healthy fats, enables a variety of practical cooking applications, and the buttery taste you love on your favorite foods. Ghee is highly potent and hence, a little bit goes a long way, making it last longer than an equivalent quantity of butter. You can bake, fry, saute, and change your diet with the grass-fed butter

Benefits of grass feeding the cows

  • More Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)
The pasture-grazed cows have more CLA in their milk compared to grain fed cows, because CLA is an essential fatty acid that has been attracting a lot of attention these days among ghee and butter users.

  • Ratio of Omega-6 and Omega-3 Fats
Research shows that if the ratio of Omega-6/Omega-3 in your food exceeds 4:1 then it may not be good for you. This ratio is around 3:1 in the milk of grass-fed cows and over 20:1 in grain-fed cow milk, because grass is rich in Omega-3 and grains have higher Omega-6. Thus consuming more grass-fed products assists you maintain the right balance of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids.

  • No Harmful Trans Fats
Also, the grass-fed organic ghee does not contain harmful Trans fats or hydrogenated oils which can cause heart disease and many other serious health issues.

  • Shelf Stable
The moisture content in a well-prepared ghee is very little and is very shelf-stable. There is no need to refrigerate it for 2-3 months, if kept in an airtight container. When kept in a refrigerator, it can last up to a year. Also, the aged ghee is regarded as having healing properties and some families preserve ghee that is over 100-years old that are very rare and expensive. But, the aged ghee is not used as a food. For cooking purposes and for eating, only fresh ghee is recommended.
